Board of Directors
BancInsure’s outstanding board constitutes extensive business knowledge and experience. Of the company’s eleven board members, four have been members in excess of ten years. The balance are currently or have been bankers or involved with banking throughout their careers. The board holds great excitement and optimism for BancInsure’s future.
Galen T. Pate, Chairman
Mr. Pate has a distinguished career in banking having served as President and CEO of Signal Financial Corporation, now Associated Bank of Mendota Heights, MN, for thirty-nine years. He has served on the boards of many eleemosynary foundations in Minnesota and has been the Chairman of the Board of BancInsure since the inception of the Company in 1985.
P. Peter Prudden, III, Vice-Chairman
Mr. Prudden has served as a Director of a number of organizations, including banks. He is a private investor and joined the Board of BancInsure in 2003.
Ballard W. Cassady, Jr.
Prior to joining the Kentucky Bankers Association as President and CEO, Mr. Cassady served as the Commissioner of Banking for the state of Kentucky. He also served as President and CEO of Citizens Bank of Pikeville, Ky., President of Tri-B Coal Co. and President of CaJa Trucking Co. Mr. Cassady currently serves on several boards in addition to BancInsure including; the Kentucky Bankers Association board of directors, and Transylvania University and Pikeville College board of trustees, the LSU Graduate School of Banking and the Graduate School of Banking of the South board of trustees. He has held his position at the Kentucky Bankers Association since 1986 and has been a member of the BancInsure board of directors since 1987.
Robb Evans
Mr. Evans currently operates his own company, which acts as court appointed fiduciary, trustee, receiver, asset manager and consultant to bank regulators and courts worldwide. Mr. Evans has a 40-year career as a banker and fiduciary. He has been chief executive officer of six banks. He formerly was Trustee managing United States interests in the BCCI matter and is currently Trustee on behalf of the BCCI foreign liquidators, Federal Receiver or Trustee appointed by the United States District Courts for the District of Columbia, Central District of California, Eastern District of California, Northern District of Oklahoma, Southern District of New York, District of Nevada, District of Arizona, Eastern District of Texas, Western District of Texas, and a State Court Receiver in a variety of matters. He has served as a California Special Deputy Commissioner of Financial Institutions and is Past President of the California Bankers Association.
Rodman A. Frates
Mr. Frates is the Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of C. L. Frates and Company. He is one of the founders of BancInsure, Inc. and a Member of the Board of Directors. Rod is one of the founders and members of the board of CosmosID, Inc, and also one of the organizers and a director of Granite Re, Inc. Additionally, he serves on the Board of SpecTir Corporation. Rod Frates graduated from Dartmouth College, and attended Virginia Law School.
Stephen I. Frates
Mr. Frates serves as a Managing Partner for COA Products, LLC. and previously held positions with Emerson Electric and Mesker Door. He is an investor in other private manufacturing firms.
William O. Johnstone
Mr. Johnstone has an extensive career in banking. He is currently the Chairman, Manager and Chief Executive Officer of Council Oak Partners, LLC of Oklahoma City, a subsidiary of BancFirst Corporation. Mr. Johnstone currently serves as the Vice-Chairman of BancFirst Corporation. In addition to BancInsure, Mr. Johnstone also holds board positions with Council Oak Partners, BancFirst Corp., The Frank Phillips Foundation, Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce and OK Mozart.
Leslie O. Nesvig
Mr. Nesvig has varied financial interests throughout the Dakotas and currently serves as a director on the following boards, Nored Inc (a John Deere equipment dealership), Cornerstone Bank, Golden Growers (owner of a corn syrup plant) and BancInsure. He has been a director of BancInsure since the company was formed in 1985 and serves as chairman of the claims committee and a member of the Administration Committee.
Jonathan H. Pate
Mr. Pate is owner and president of Pate Bonding Incorporated of West St. Paul, MN. He is a director of Granite Re, Inc. and a banking industry investor. He joined the board of BancInsure in 2003.
J. Eric T. Sandberg
Mr. Sandberg is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Texas Bankers Association. Prior to taking on this leadership role with Texas Bankers Association, Mr. Sandberg served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Texas Savings and Community Bankers Association. He served as a consultant to Texas Bankers Association when the association merged with the Texas Savings and Community. A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, Mr. Sandberg is a Certified Public Accountant.
James W. Wallis
Mr. Wallis is an independent oil and gas operator in Oklahoma City. From 1979, he has served as President and Chairman of EXOK, Inc. Jim also currently serves as Chairman of Integris Baptist Medical Center Foundation. He has been an investor in the banking business and his varied and interesting career includes productions for television. Mr. Wallis serves as the Chairman of the company’s investment committee.
